Actor Kiefer Sutherland’s got a full plate between his Broadway play, “That Championship Season,” his new web series, “The Confession,” and of course, the “24” movie.
“There’s been talk about it forever,” Sutherland told CNN of the feature film version of the smash Fox series. “But it is slated right now for the summer of 2012.”
“I’m one of the producers (of Fox’s “24” film) and I’ve been working with Ron Howard,” he revealed. “We’ve had a couple of scripts that I think were wonderful but they weren’t perfect, and I think we worked so hard on the series for that long that we want to make, if not a series of films, at least the one film really matter. We’ve just been working so hard to reach that.”

May 5, 2011 at 5:40 pmThat’s the best thing someone’s ever said about the 24 film. It’s good to know they want to make it as good as possible. But I have no doubt, that IF the movie is successful, then there will be more.
I just hope they’ll get Sean Callery to do the soundtrack. I can’t imagine anything more epic than sitting in a cinema listening to Callery’s awesome music.
Since he scored the music for The Confession, I’m certain Kiefer will make sure that Sean Callery is on board with the 24 movie.

May 5, 2011 at 6:20 pmI think that Sean Callery will be present in the film too.
The only thing that I’m worried about is that Kiefer is getting old. But, who knows…. On the hand he’ll rock to death.

May 5, 2011 at 7:03 pmIt’s just nice to know it won’t just be another random blockbuster given Ron Howard on board. That was my main concern but if Howard directs it and if there’s a will to make a movie that matter, then we can have the hope the 24 movie will respect the show, won’t be a 24 mashup and a hearless random action flick without any connection to what 24 trully is about in order to please a broad audience.
And I agree with Crisis92000, after 24 I hope Arrested Development goes on the big screen (with Howard as director and of course as the voice-over). That may sound naive, but if the 24 movie is a success, maybe it will encourage 20th Century Fox to trust Imagine Entertainment (they produce both 24 and AD, and also Friday Night Lights… these guys are good for funding groundbreaking shows) and greenlight the Arrested Development movie.

May 6, 2011 at 6:57 pmI don’t know if he’s the best choice (I don’t know that many directors) but at least I’m comfortable now that the 24 Movie will be left in the hands of an Emmy Award-winning Actor and an Academy Award-winning Director.
Thank you God, for letting me live through the greatest TV series in human history!!!
PS: Sorry for all the exclamation points. I’m just so excited!!!
