To celebrate the tenth anniversary of their IMDbPro service, major film and television websites IMDB.com has released data on the biggest stars, films, and television series on their site over the past decade.

The television list is sorted by highest average ranking over the last ten years, and 24 placed in at a very respectable sixth. The full list is below:

Jack Bauer doesn’t play by the rules. But no one could have predicted that 24‘s creators would go rogue and break a widely assumed rule of television drama: Major characters are supposed to be immortal. Someone must have missed that memo, and the result was a first-season finale shocker that robbed our hero of a stereotypical stroll into the sunset, and instead left him cradling the lifeless body of his wife. Teri Bauer took a bullet in the stomach, courtesy of Jack’s old flame, and killing her off took some serious guts. Unlike other series, when 24‘s writers warn that no character is safe, they mean it. —Gretchen Hansen

Other women and other co-workers had come and gone (sometimes in a permanent manner) in Jack Bauer’s life, but Chloe was a bright, talented, somewhat antisocial (some fans believed she had Asperger’s) CTU analyst and eventual agency head whose expertise and willingness to challenge authority was directly responsible for saving the hero’s life on more than one occasion.

Dark isn’t exactly a new territory for “24″ – just Google Jack Bauer and hacksaw – but the show’s waters reached some new depths in this episode, which saw Jack anoint himself judge, jury and executioner of Dana Walsh over Renee’s death. Her usefulness in finding her co-conspirators exhausted, Jack – rather than turn her over to CTU – simply opts to murder her in cold blood. Wow.

When it was all said and done, he was able to escape and disappear into the shadows, presumably until Fox approves on a viable movie script.

The Society of Camera Operators 2011 Lifetime Achievement Awards has nominated 24‘s Guy Skinner for “Camera Operator of the Year: Television”.

Other nominees in that category include Tony Gaudioz of House, Greg Collier of Bones, David Frederick of Sons of Anarchy, and Doc Karman of Raising Hope.

TV Guide sure likes their 24 – the series finale placed on their “best episodes of 2010” list, the final scene was one of their “unforgettable moments“, and now this Dana Walsh scene is one of their “top moments” of the year:

It’s always good to see Jack Bauer take down the bad guy, but it was especially rewarding for fans when he finally put double agent Dana Walsh out of her misery. After trying to sabotage the CTU the entire season (and becoming one of the series’ most despised characters), Jack finally corners Dana and shoots her dead despite her plea for mercy.

Los Angeles Times made a list of “television’s top supporting players of 2010″ and Gregory Itzin’s character Charles Logan was among the ten chosen.

When he showed up in “24′s” last season, he reminded us why we loved this show so much. Probably our favorite Jack Bauer antagonist of all time.

24 Season 8 episode 22 with Jack Bauer (or Darth Bauer/Iron Jack as fans called him) donning black body armor and kidnapping Charles Logan made the list of TV.com’s year end top 100 moments of 2010 list. It came in at a very nice 20th place.

24‘s final season provided one of the most OMG moments of the series when one-man wrecking crew Jack Bauer, outfitted in the sweetest black assault leotard ever, went ballistic on Charles Logan’s vehicle procession.

His tearful goodbye with Chloe — appropriately via video screen — broke our hearts.

The Los Angeles Times has listed Renee Walker as one of the ten beloved television characters who passed away in 2010 which will be missed. I can definitely agree with this one!

Back when I first posted about this last month it was winning with nearly half of the votes. A well-deserved win – great ending to a fantastic series. Long live 24!
