FOX has finally given the official series order to Kiefer Sutherland’s drama series Touch. Thirteen episodes will air during midseason in Spring 2012. The pilot was filmed this Summer and presumably production on the other twelve episodes will begin within the next few weeks.

FOX has ordered 13 episodes of the new drama series TOUCH, created and written by Emmy-nominated Tim Kring (“Heroes”), it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. TOUCH, starring Emmy and Golden Globe winner Kiefer Sutherland, will join the schedule in the spring of 2012. The pilot was directed and executive-produced by Francis Lawrence (“Water for Elephants”), and the show comes from Chernin Entertainment and Tailwind Productions, in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

“TOUCH is another ambitious series from Tim Kring that is beautifully executed and has incredibly resonant themes for our times,” said Reilly. “With Kiefer back on the network as the face and force behind this creative new series, I’m confident it will resonate with viewers this spring.”

TOUCH is a distinct and colorful drama in which science and spirituality intersect with the hopeful premise that we are all interconnected, tied in invisible ways to those whose lives we are destined to alter and impact.

At the center of TOUCH is MARTIN BOHM (Sutherland), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his mute 11-year-old son, JAKE (David Mazouz). After multiple failed attempts at keeping Jake in school, Martin is visited by CLEA HOPKINS (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a social worker sent to evaluate Jake’s well-being. Everything changes when Martin discovers that Jake possesses the gift of staggering genius – the ability to see things that no one else can and the patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events. Jake is indeed communicating. But it’s not with words, it’s with numbers. Martin meets ARTHUR DEWITT (Danny Glover), a professor and an expert on children who possess special gifts when it comes to numbers. Now, it’s up to Martin to decipher the meaning and connect the numbers to the cast of characters whose lives they affect.

TOUCH is a production of Chernin Entertainment and Tailwind Productions, in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Tim Kring created the series and wrote the pilot. Kring, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin (NEW GIRL, TERRA NOVA), Katherine Pope (NEW GIRL, TERRA NOVA), Sutherland, Suzan Bymel (“The War at Home”) and Carol Barbee (“Jericho”) are executive producers. Lawrence directed the pilot.

The innovative, addictive, Emmy Award-winning television series 24 resets the clock for “Day 9″ with a special two-night premiere event beginning Sunday, Jan. 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The season will unfold without repeats, airing all originals through the season finale in May.

Set six years after “Day 8″, Jack Bauer travels to Berlin to assist German Intelligence agent THEO STOLLER (Henry Ian Cusick) with his investigation of a former Nina Myers associate, KATARINE FISCHER (Franka Potente). The duo soon discover an imminent terrorist strike that could change the world forever in the explosive, special two-hour season premiere event airing Sunday, Jan. 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Executive producer and showrunner David Fury said, “We originally planned to end the series with Day 8 but when it was time to record the DVD audio commentary, we couldn’t find a single cast or crew member willing to sit through the Dana Walsh scenes – not even Katee Sackhoff. So Kiefer and I both agreed that we would attempt to do one final, perfect season, this time without Howard Gordon’s poor ideas.”

The first promo will air during Game 2 of the 2011 World Series on FOX. A full-length trailer will premiere on November 6, 2011 – the tenth anniversary of 24 – exclusively at www.24trailer.com

FOX has also entered a licensing partnership with Red Bull to create “Bauer Fuel” a limited-edition energy drink that will keep “24″ addicts adrenaline pumping all day long. Rovio Mobile will produce “Angry Bauer” a 24-themed version of popular mobile phone game Angry Birds.

24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, is a production of 20th Century Fox Television and Imagine Television. Jon Cassar will direct the season premiere. Production is scheduled to begin today, which is April Fools Day.

They’re sort of vague for the most part, but I find it interesting how Jack uncovers an “unexpected lead” in episode 21 and then with episode 22 Logan becomes “increasingly involved” – can you say villain?

Uh oh. Bauer’s ladies don’t always have the best of luck, and with Jack and Renee seemingly making out in the episode 17 promo, you might as well paint a target on Renee’s forehead. In a joint decision made by 24’s star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, executive producer and showrunner Howard Gordon, Twentieth Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment and Fox Broadcasting Company, it was determined that the acclaimed series will end its remarkable eight-season run. Jack Bauer’s last day on FOX will conclude when the final two hours of “Day Eight” air Monday, May 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). As the countdown to the series’ climactic conclusion races on, the final 11 hours will air uninterrupted Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Multiple award-winning series star Kiefer Sutherland reflected on the show’s run: “This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible. While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon.
