Mary Lynn Rajskub was interviewed on the Marc Macon podcast and she was briefly asked about the 24 movie (nothing new on that front) and working with Kiefer Sutherland. When asked whether she got along with her co-star, she at first hesitated to answer with an “Ummm..” and then continued:
Kiefer and I like each other; I would go so far as to say we love each other in that respect. But at the same time… I really care about him, but our relationship never changed, it never went past a certain point. I think I was always a little bit intimidated by him. He would probably say, “Oh why would you be [intimated]?” Um… But we never fully hung out or fully had a conversation the entire time. And a lot of other people who were on the crew and the cast it was like a family that you watched [over] the course of doing that intense show, that many years. You’ve watched marriages and deaths and births and you do get to know everybody.
Here is the six minute segment that discusses 24 fans and Kiefer:
Here’s a radio interview in which Kiefer Sutherland talks about the 24 movie. Both he and former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon have been “very involved” in shepherding the project, which was written by Billy Ray.
“We’re gonna hopefully start production in April on the film, and that’ll be out later on in the year. We’re still a few months away, but we’ve got a script that we’re very excited about and we’re moving forward.”
When the interviewer asks Kiefer why the delay, Kiefer blamed his upcoming Fox television series Touch. “It’s something that kind of took up a lot of space for us to do, and that is as responsible as anything for us having to push the movie back about seven months,” said Kiefer.
The debut episode of the Schmoes Knows podcast scored an interview with Katee Sackhoff (24‘s Dana Walsh) and she is refreshingly candid as usual. Katee described the Dana mole twist as “kinda predictable” and said “I think the writers wrote themselves into a wall because they promised me that I was going to have guns.”
Sackhoff had the option to do her own show for USA Network but turned it down to work on 24 instead because the producers promised her she’d get to play with guns. “For the first five episodes I’m behind a desk, and I’m like really guys? Where are my guns?!” [click to continue…]
Howard Gordon is interviewed by Jamie Samuelsen of Mornings on 94.7 WCSX about his novel Gideon’s War. He also speaks about 24 and says the network petitioned them to change the heavily serialized real-time format during the first year of the show.
He talks about the low point being 24 Season 6 and says his favorite character aside from Jack Bauer was Charles Logan (the other being Dennis Haysbert’s David Palmer). [click to continue…]
Here’s a lengthy (24 minute) live radio interview I recorded where TV Confidential interviews Howard Gordon, showrunner of 24 and the author of Gideon’s War.
Comparisons of the Gideon Davis and Jack Bauer characters come up, Howard shares his writing past, reveals what other writers and stories he was inspired by, they talk about Gregory Itzin (who was recognized by LA Times as one of TV’s top supporting characters in 2010) and Dennis Haysbert, Howard’s favorite episode of 24, his two television pilots, and briefly about the 24 movie.
Mary Lynn Rajskub (24‘s Chloe O’Brian) was interviewed on The Nick Wright Show all about her role on 24 – what it was like to take over CTU, what Chloe would be like in the 24 movie, and more. As usual she’s pretty funny and it’s a great listen!
Here’s the audio interview of her appearance on the show:
Mary Lynn Rajskub (24‘s Chloe O’Brian) was in London promoting the UK 24 Season 8 DVD and Blu-Ray release and appeared on BBC Radio 1′s Greg James show November 8th 2010 to talk about her years of working on the 24 series and to goof off. Listen to her spill details on the 24 movie script she’s writing and explain what sockets mean.
Here’s the audio interview of her appearance on the show:
Howard Gordon was interviewed at BookExpo America 2010 in New York City by Authors on Tour Live about his upcoming thriller novel “The Obelisk”.
He discusses the book and its character Gideon Davis, how he came up with the idea, and what it was like writing for a hit television show like 24. He says that the book was done during the Writers Strike. He also says that he’s got some ideas for a sequel and is looking forward to getting into it.
Here’s a lengthy audio interview (30 minutes, 26 seconds) from NPR with 24 showrunner and executive producer Howard Gordon. This is a really great listen if you have the time – he explains a lot of the writing decisions made this year.
This Mary Lynn Rajskub radio interview is from April 12th, but it’s a pretty good listen. It closes with Rajskub choking and saying “I’m super high right now”, which is pretty much the funniest way to end an interview ever.
“When I take over CTU, it’s putting me in a position to have to deal with Jack not as an underling, now I’m having to grapple with the bigger decisions. Dealing directly with the President and sometimes undermining what I’m supposed to be doing: but I’m the boss! So, it’s a whole different relationship that I have with Jack.”
It definitely seems like the writers are going to be changing up the typical Jack/Chloe relationship in these final episodes. I’m going to throw a prediction out there (and it’s purely a guess), Jack Bauer might wind up going too far and Chloe will be the one forced to take him into custody.
Mary Lynn Rajskub was on WCSX’s Morning Show with Ken Calvert today to talk about the final episodes of 24.
“I was really put off at first because I was shocked at the ending,” she said. “But then when I went back and re-read the scripts, it’s pretty cool…it does kind of lead into a movie, but it’s a cool ending.”
She also talked about her character Chloe’s relationship with Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer in the final episodes.
“Jack and Chloe’s relationship is…crazy. I can’t even believe this stuff that I filmed. I’m not saying she dies or doesn’t die, but I’m saying the way her character wraps up is pretty awesome”.
You can listen to the full audio interview (8 minutes, 33 seconds) here. It’s a good listen as Mary Lynn is surprisingly candid when asked about the (crappy) Dana Walsh storyline among other things.
Mary Lynn did a couple radio interviews today and here they are.
99.5 WYCD Detroit’s Best Country
The “Dr Don Morning Show with Rachael and Grunwald” has a brief Mary Lynn Rajskub interview on 24‘s final season and what she’s doing next. It contains a short tease that “There’s some crazy stuff for my character”.
CD 105.9 Classic Rock – KKCD (8 minutes 15 seconds)
This one she reveals a pretty big spoiler for tonight (that she’s taking over as head of CTU). I’m looking forward to seeing Chloe as the queen of CTU. She also says “the ending is spectacular”.
Here is the audio I recorded from Stephen Root’s interview on this mornings Bob Rivers Show (KZOK 102.5 FM). He talks a bit about his three episode “24″ arc as parole officer Bill Prady and what it’s like to work with Katee Sackhoff (24‘s Dana Walsh).
UPDATE: Here’s another interview from Stephen on this mornings Todd N Taylor Radio Empire:
