24 Season 8 is arriving on Netflix instant streaming on February 12th, just two months after its December 14th retail release. It’s been in high demand on Netflix with a “Very long wait” time so I’m sure this will make many people happy.
This addition will make the entire series available on Netflix for streaming. The past seven seasons were put on the service last April along with the two-hour television movie “24: Redemption” (which is listed as the first episode on the 24 Season 7 page). [click to continue…]
Total sales for the 24 Season 8 DVD in the United States are now at 548,399 units with $21,032,272 in revenue after six weeks on store shelves according to tracking firm The Numbers.
The 24 Season 8 DVD set was off to a slower debut than previous 24 DVD sets selling just 178,830 in the first week, but it has remained in the top 30 weekly DVD sales charts over the following weeks and continued to sell. For comparison, the Season 7 DVD has sold 800k units lifetime in the US.
(Thanks to Rob for bringing this to my attention.)
The 24 Season 8 DVD has sold 178,830 copies and grossed $6,716,855 dollars in its first week on sale (December 14-19).
That’s quite a large drop from last years 24 Season 7′s DVD debut which sold 275,000 copies during its first week on store shelves and became the second highest-grossing TV DVD of 2009 (behind HBO’s True Blood) after eleven weeks on sale.
Reviewers have criticized the 24 Season 8 DVD for its dissapointing lack of extras – zero audio commentaries, no bloopers, and just two special features. The “Chloe’s Arrest” epilogue was also excluded from the US standalone DVD set despite being available on the DVD in every other regions release.

Carlos Bernard was recently in London to promote the UK release of 24 Season 7 on DVD and Blu-Ray which came out on October 19, 2009. In just a few days he appeared on numerous outlets and did a number of interviews and public appearances (including a DVD signing at HMV London).
After falling out of the top 30 the previous week, True Blood climbed back in for the week ending August 2, with over 44,000 units and after 11 weeks of release has sold over $42 million worth on over 1.2 million units.
So far this year, only two DVD shows have earned more than $17 million in revenue. The aforementioned True Blood and 24, which has sold $17.6 million worth in 11 weeks.
FOX has conveniently summed up the entire sixth season of 24 in a four minute “Previously on 24″ segment called “Season 6 in Four Minutes” found on the 24 Redemption DVD. It’s actually closer to five minutes in length, but who’s counting? Enjoy!
Here’s the 24 Season 6 Prequel found on the 24 Season 5 DVD. This takes place seven months after the fifth season with Jack Bauer being tortured by Cheng Zhi in a Chinese prison camp.
Here’s a seven minute documentary from the included DVD with the 24: Behind The Scenes book. 24 crew members Jon Cassar, Isabella Vosmikova, Rodney Charters, Jay Herron, Michael Klick are interviewed and you can see rare photos of the cast members.
You may remember that FOX asked fans to choose the 24 Season 5 DVD box art a few months ago. Instead of those five potential box arts, FOX came up with a completely new design based on comments from the survey participants. Here’s the final 24 Season 5 DVD art:
FOX has started a survey in which fans can provide input on the 24 Season 5 DVD cover art and more. It seems like they’re considering switching the cases as well.
24 Season 5 DVD box art survey choices
They’ll ask you to give your reasons for why you picked the one you did, and they also ask for your thoughts on the idea of them switching from the previously-used fold-out “digipak” cardboard packaging to the more current “thinpak” ultra-thin plastic DVD cases, which would slide into a cardboard slipcover. Head on over and participate; we’re not sure how long this survey will be available. And stay tuned for more info about the release of this season set!
Here’s the 24 Season 5 prequel found on the 24 Season 4 DVD. This takes place in Chicago a year after Day 4 and six months before the events of Day 5. Chloe O’Brian meets Jack Bauer who is in hiding after having faked his death. She tells him that someone hacked into her computer files three days ago and probably realized that Jack was alive. She warns him to leave town right away. After that Jack gets into a car chase.
“HE DISAPPEARED TO PROTECT HIS SECRET
HE CHANGED HIS NAME AND STARTED A NEW LIFE
HE THOUGHT HE WAS SAFE…
THEN DAY 5 BEGAN”
