James Morrison

James P Morrison, better known to 24 fans as Bill Buchanan is guest-starring on ABC’s upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot. Unlike the kind and calm Buchanan, this time he will be playing an antagonist. Fun!

No, I'm not Bosley (and Charlie is considerably older than me) ;) I've been assigned the role of antagonist in this episode.

Now that the new TV season has started I thought it would be interesting to take a look at where the 24 crew went after the series ended a few months ago. Fans that have watched the DVD bonus features probably know that the cast and crew were very close to each other, and that’s proven by this list – many of them chose to work together on future projects.

Dexter

Dexter logo
Chip Johannessen became showrunner of Showtime’s hit series Dexter last December, and brought along some 24 crew with him including Manny Coto (writer and executive producer), director Milan Cheylov, costume designer Jim Lapidus, and the Emmy-winning David Latham (editor). One of his first orders of business was creating a new recurring character named FBI Agent Walker – nice! Also look out for Peter Weller (Christopher Henderson from Season 5) to show up soon as a recurring character.

TV Guide’s William Keck caught up with 24 cast members at the series finale event and asked them what their favorite love interest for Jack was, favorite torture scene, favorite death scene, and favorite President.

FAVORITE LEADING LADY FOR JACK

Kim Raver (Audrey Raines): “I’m a romantic, so I feel Jack and Audrey were always meant to be. I would run back for any opportunity to appear in the movie.”

Leslie Hope (Teri Bauer): “Our daughter, Kim. We both felt very protective of [actress] Elisha Cuthbert, who is Canadian like both Kiefer and myself and had just turned 18 when she started the show.”

James Morrison (Bill Buchanan): “Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe gives him a familial love he doesn’t have with anyone else. When you look back at this thing, she’s the one woman who probably would have died for him in an instant.”

FAVORITE TORTURE SCENE

Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer): “There was one I loved [in Season 5] where I was trying to get information from Peter Weller [who played Christopher Henderson], so I tortured his wife, JoBeth Williams. I was such a fan of those two actors, and she was so game for me shooting her in the knee.”

Annie Wersching (Renee Walker): “My character cutting the thumb off [in Season 8] was pretty cool. Jack usually gets the cool torture scenes, so the fact that I got my own hacksaw moment meant a lot.”

Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida): “There was an early torture of Kiefer that they had to reshoot, like, three times. Kiefer was really mad because it was painful, but I couldn’t stop laughing.”

FAVORITE PRESIDENT

Kiefer: Palmer, because Dennis [Haysbert] and I started it all together. He was the person you want your president to be.”

Penny Johnson (Sherry Palmer): “Dennis was the best because he had elegance and stature. He paved the way for Obama.”

Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe O’Brian): “I liked Charles Logan [Gregory Itzin] because he was nuts. Watching him lie and sometimes getting away with it gave me this sickening feeling thinking, ‘What if this really were our president?’”

Carlos: “Itzin. You wanted to take a shower after watching that shady dude.”

FAVORITE DEATH SCENE

Kiefer: “Ryan Chappelle [Paul Schulze] was my boss, and the terrorists made me take him [in Season 3]. I got authorization to kill him in front of the terrorists. Paul played that so beautifully.”

Mary Lynn: “Edgar Stiles [Louis Lombardi] was the big one for me [in Season 5], when CTU was attacked. I was behind glass watching him die.”

Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer): “I think the most profound was my own [in Season 5]. That episode helped earn them their first Emmy, but we also lost a lot of viewers because of it.”

Bill Buchanan 24 Season 6

It initially seemed as if James Morrison wouldn’t be back in the seventh season of 24, but he’s updated his website with word that he’s back on the cast again. It seems like he’ll make his first appearance in the third episode.

Production on 24 is back up and running and I’m returning as Bill Buchanan. If I were King of Press Releases at FOX, all I would divulge is “It’s a new day and Bill joins Jack and Chloe on some new spine-tingling adventure.”

Since, realistically, that isn’t quite enough to whet the appetite of the viewer, the press releases from FOX seem to give away everything for at least the first few episodes. My neighbor stopped me when I started to tell her that there’s no more CTU. She didn’t want me to reveal anything and I realized she had a valid point so I apologized and then we started to speculate about what my costume might be like. The next morning I read in the paper that there is no more CTU. Then I read that Tony Almeida is back. Then I remembered that there are no secrets except the ones kept from the real people by the real government. [click to continue…]
