A ROGUE JACK BAUER REMAINS RESOLUTE IN HIS VENDETTA ON AN ALL-NEW “24″ MONDAY, MAY 10, ON FOX
Michael Madsen, Gregory Itzin and Jennifer Westfeldt Guest-Star
With only four hours left, a rogue Jack Bauer stops at nothing to determine who is behind the day’s most devastating events, and he uncovers an unexpected lead in the all-new “Day 8: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM” episode of 24 airing Monday, May 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TWF-821) (TV-14 L, V)
Cast: Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer; Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian; Cherry Jones as Allison Taylor; Mykelti Williamson as Brian Hastings; Chris Diamantopoulos as Rob Weiss; Katee Sackhoff as Dana Walsh; Freddie Prinze Jr. as Cole Ortiz; John Boyd as Arlo Glass
Guest Cast: Gregory Itzin as Charles Logan; Jennifer Westfeldt as Meredith Reed; Necar Zadegan as Dalia Hassan; Joel Bissonnette as Pavel; Thomas Ryan as Gary Klausner; Sarah Hollis as Susan; Reed Diamond as Jason Pillar; Michael Madsen as Jim Ricker; Julie Claire as Eden Linley; Navid Negahban as Jamot; Graham McTavish as Mikhail Novakovich; Joe Sabatino as Captain Walleki
The return of Meredith Reed is interesting, and it seems like she will be the “unexpected lead” that Jack uncovers. Madsen is back after an absence from episode 20, and that pesky Pavel (Renee’s killer) is back again.

UPDATE 3/28/10: I have been told by a huge Anil Kapoor fan that Anil has NOT returned to Los Angeles. Although this interview/article was first published in a February issue of TV Guide, it was apparently conducted months beforehand – Anil’s final episode count likely remains at sixteen. The original post is below:
Back in December, Anil Kapoor said he’d be in sixteen episodes of 24 (after originally only being contracted for ten). Well it looks like the producers really do love him, as he’s flying back to Los Angeles to film even more episodes soon.
This news comes shortly after learning that Jennifer Westfeldt (Meredith Reed) would be returning to ’24′ soon. Hmm, I sense a connection here.

TV Guide’s Mickey O’Connor and Adam Bryant share some more info from the 24 season 8 premiere:
I’m dying for 24 to start again. What will the new cast members be up to? — Cassandra
MICKEY: You’ve probably heard Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.) described as a mini-Jack, but I bet you haven’t heard Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) described as a duplicitous liar. Now you have! Also: Jennifer Westfeldt’s ambitious journalist will do anything for the story — including use those feminine wiles I’ve heard so much about.

Kristin Dos Santos reports that Jennifer Westfeldt, who is playing ambitious journalist Meredith Reed on the eighth season of 24 probably won’t be sticking around for too long as she’s set to star in Cusi Cram’s off-Broadway play A Lifetime Burning.
Mischa in Culver City, Calif.: 24 scoop. Anything please!
Jennifer Westfeldt appears on 24 this season, which just happens to be filming on the same lot as her man Jon Hamm’s show, Mad Men. Jennifer tells us of her 24 role: “I’m a journalist with some ties to the president of the Islamic Republic, who is played by Anil Kapoor, who was in Slumdog Millionaire.” She wouldn’t tease whether her character was good or bad, but safe to say she’s not sticking around too long because she’s off to New York to star in an off-Broadway play this week.
