Al Norton: How much of a 24 fan were you before you got the job?

Katee Sackhoff: I watched the first season, every single episode, and then with the schedule for Battlestar I just got busy. And especially with 24, if you miss an episode you’re really far behind. They do that really good recap from the previous week’s episode. In all honesty, the recaps are so long on 24 that you almost see the whole episode. I loved the show coming in. I loved Kiefer, the whole thing. They figured out how to keep people interested in a show for so many years that isn’t a procedural.

Al Norton: How much did you know about Dana before you started seeing the actual scripts?

Katee Sackhoff: When I went in and auditioned I knew the role was going to go one way or the other, either possibly be a throwaway or become something more. I went in and sat down with the guys and we talked about it and they promised they would give me a gun at some point.

Al Norton: They didn’t tell you who you might shoot, though.

Katee Sackhoff: No, and they didn’t actually say I was going to shoot it, either, just that I would have a gun. I should have gotten that in writing and I should have made them clarify something like, “you are going to pull the trigger.”

Al Norton: Is it hard to prep for a role when you don’t know that much about it?

Katee Sackhoff: It is because I knew somewhat about Dana/Jenny, I knew that’s who she was as far as background, but beyond that I couldn’t prepare for too much. I had to really commit to the moment because you can’t commit to the story.

Al Norton: What’s Kiefer like to work with?

Katee Sackhoff: Lovely. Kiefer gives 110% to everything that he does. He’s fantastic.

Al Norton: Both 24 and Battlestar have very passionate fan bases that use the internet to talk about how they feel about the show. Do you ever succumb to temptation and go searching?

Katee Sackhoff: Yeah, they’re all like, “I hate Dana! (laughing)” I don’t go looking anymore. The moment during the beginning of Battlestar when people began insulting me as an actual person I was like, “and I quit the internet.”

Al Norton: Avoiding talking about any projects in general, how do you deal with being in the middle of pilot season and having your character and possibly your show be so up in the air?

Katee Sackhoff: The good thing about 24 is that I’m friends with Brannon Braga (one of the show’s executive producers) so it makes it easier for me to get some information out of him. I can find out enough so that I don’t worry either way. I haven’t had to gamble too much with what I am going to be doing.

This must be one of the shortest video interviews ever (just 35 seconds long), but here it is:

This shouldn’t be a surprise if you’ve seen some of the recent set pictures, but Katee Sackhoff appears to be yet another single-season character on 24. If we do happen to get a Season 9, she won’t be part of it.

“Battlestar Galactica” alumna Katee Sackhoff is set to star in ABC’s untitled Richard Hatem drama pilot.

Sackhoff, who co-stars on Fox’s “24″ this season, fielded multiple offers this pilot season before settling on the Richard Hatem project.

The crime drama centers on a beautiful female detective (Sackhoff) who teams with a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground.

The producers of “24″ are tightlipped about any plot twists on the real-time action drama, but it’s understood that Sackhoff’s story line would allow her to take on a new series for next season even if “24″ was to return for a ninth cycle.

Sackhoff, who played Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on “Battlestar Galactica,” toplined NBC’s drama pilot “Lost & Found” last season.

She is repped by Gersh and Bleu.

**EXCLUSIVE** Kiefer Sutherland and co-star Katee Sackhoff gear up and film scenes on the streets of Downtown LA for the Emmy and Golden Globe award winning show “24″. The Fox TV series stars Kiefer Sutherland as Agent Jack Bauer whose co-star Katee Sackhoff plays Dana Walsh, a computer analyst who has a background she’s trying to keep hidden. Both Sackhoff and Sutherland are seen with guns and running down empty streets in Downtown LA. In between takes, Sutherland re-loads his prop gun and takes direction from crew members. Apparently, cops were called to the scene since the noise disruption was thought to be a real gun shooting in the area. (February 2, 2010 – Photo by PacificCoastNews.com)

The Copper Spoon blog reports on recent 24 filming along with some pictures:

From Wednesday through Friday, the cast of the hit Fox show 24 took over the lobby, elevators and outdoor area of my office building, One Bunker Hill. Kiefer Sutherland and gang could be seen throughout the day acting in various different scenes, from some sort of bank heist, to action scenes in the elevators and on-foot chases overtaking the sidewalks.

LA’s blogdowntown offers the actual filming notice used:

DESCRIPTION OF SCENE: Weapons brandished. Driving shots. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Equipment on sidewalk, curb lane and across the street. Interior dialogue. Exterior dialogue. Occasional traffic and pedestrian control. Wetting of the street. Condor and crane. Generator. Picture vehicles. Bus move at 5th St & Grand Ave. Talent climbing down fire escape, running across Grand Ave. Camera ladder on 6th St & Grand Ave. People and equipment on library steps. Near hits & misses.

Although none of the reports mention it, it appears that Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff) is in the field with Cole and Jack. If you look closely in one of the photos, Dana appears to be holding a gun while walking through the crowded sidewalk of pedestrians.

Here’s an eleven minute long interview with Katee Sackhoff that I recorded from KISW’s BJ Shea Morning Experience. She talks about many things including how nice Kiefer Sutherland is.

After the interview BJ shared his impressions of the 24 premiere and sounded very excited, especially about Annie Wersching’s Renee Walker character, saying there is an “epic scene” with Renee and that in all his years of watching 24 he said “Whoa” ending the segment with “it is a great four hours to watch”.
