Spoilers and news for the hit FOX television show 24
This came as somewhat of a surprise to me:
The stars seem especially aligned for Toronto newcomer Nazneen Contractor, who at 24 is the same age as the series title. Contractor was initially slotted to shoot only two episodes this season as Kayla Hassan, the daughter of President Omar Hassan (Slumdog Millionaire villain Anil Kapoor). But after seeing how her heartbreakingly beautiful face lit up the screen, producers ended up using her for a full 21 episodes. [click to continue…]

More pictures from the 24 set for episodes 15/16 directed by Brad Turner. The scene being filmed involved Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) running out of a building with lots of pigeons around him. You can also see Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) in a bulletproof vest and President Hassan’s wife (Necar Zadegan) and daughter Kayla (Nazneen Contractor). They appear to be hailing a taxi. Oddly though, no sign of Anil Kapoor (President Hassan) anywhere on set – feel free to speculate what that means for the fate of his character.

Stunt double Sera Trimble posted a picture on her blog with Nazneen Contractor who plays 24‘s Kayla Hassan. Kayla is the daughter of President Omar Hassan (played by Anil Kapoor) who is the target of an assassination attempt.
24 producers, luckily including a few Canadians who knew her work, cast her — but for only two episodes–as Kayla Hashemi, the beautiful daughter of an Islamic president. After wrapping the two episodes in June, she got an unexpected call saying they wanted her back–for 11 more.
“I’m ecstatic they liked my character enough to keep me going,” says the bookishly sexy and sultry brunette who was born in Mumbai, India, but moved to Toronto as a child.
“It’s always been my favourite show, my mother and I watched it together every week and when I came to Los Angeles (for audition season), she said, ‘Can’t you get a job on 24?’ ”

At the very bottom of a Hollywood Reporter article on Freddie Prinze Jr. is word that Nazneen Contractor has been cast for the role of Kayla Hashemi:
Also cast as a recurring on the 20th TV/Imagine series is Nazneen Contractor as Kapoor’s daughter.
