TORONTO — Canadian actor Callum Keith Rennie has built a career out of playing very bad men.
With roles including a manipulative cylon on “Battlestar Galactica,” a bad-boy rocker on “Californication,” a serial killer on “Harper’s Island,” and this fall, a Russian mobster on “24,” the rugged performer says it’s good to be bad these days.
“I’ve played it quite a few times,” Rennie admits in a recent interview from Los Angeles, where he was shooting three episodes of “24.”
“(The bad guy) always has lots of twists and turns, right? You don’t get caught into certain styles of having to play it, so I like doing it.”
In attendance were Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub along with new cast members Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr, and Anil Kapoor, writers Howard Gordon, David Fury, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, and Brannon Braga and composer Sean Callery.

Katee Sackhoff has answered fan questions in the first “Ask Katee” Q&A session posted on her official website. In it contains a brief mention of 24.
For those who don’t know, I’m doing 24 now, which was just a fantastic choice for me. I love the show, I think it’s fun and I think that after the experience of the [Lost and Found] pilot and being so let down, I needed to do something that felt familiar to me, and because I’ve watched 24, that was it. And also, after working on it, I couldn’t have picked a more similar situation to Battlestar to go into. There’s such a family there and it’s fantastic. I’m having a great time.
24 producers, luckily including a few Canadians who knew her work, cast her — but for only two episodes–as Kayla Hashemi, the beautiful daughter of an Islamic president. After wrapping the two episodes in June, she got an unexpected call saying they wanted her back–for 11 more.
“I’m ecstatic they liked my character enough to keep me going,” says the bookishly sexy and sultry brunette who was born in Mumbai, India, but moved to Toronto as a child.
“It’s always been my favourite show, my mother and I watched it together every week and when I came to Los Angeles (for audition season), she said, ‘Can’t you get a job on 24?’ ”
Oliver Grigsby, a writer on Heroes has revealed on his blog that 24 writer Juan Carlos Coto has joined their writing team:
We’re also lucky enough to have Carlos Coto join the team. Carlos worked on 24 last year and is no stranger to time travel or Sci-Fi having spent time on Journeyman and Invasion. He’s been a great addition to the Heroes team.
