Elisha Cuthbert’s “Happy Endings” gives shout out to 24

Elisha Cuthbert has a new comedy series on ABC called Happy Endings and it seems like the writers of that show couldn’t resist the urge to throw in a cougar dig. The 24 episode where Kim Bauer gets stuck in an animal trap while a cougar looms over her aired on February 4, 2003 and jokes are still being made about it in 2011. Poor Elisha will never live that down. Watch the funny clip below:

“What if you were like stuck in a trap in the woods, and like a cougar was trying to eat you. Would you date then? Maybe your dad is the head of some elite counter terrorist unit and he only has 24 hours to — I don’t know… The point is, would you date?”

While promoting her new ABC comedy series Happy Endings on Good Morning America, the inevitable “24 movie” question came up and Elisha Cuthbert said she hopes to be a part of it. You know, the same thing she said four years ago and the dozens of times she’s been asked in the years since. Nothing new here, but posting for the sake of completeness.

“Coming from 24, it was a much-needed change that just felt right,” Cuthbert said. Nonetheless, she said she would be more than willing to appear in the upcoming 24 movie.

“Absolutely, I would be lying if I said otherwise,” Cuthbert said.

“They actually haven’t called me on it. The thing is, I have a lot of trust in Kiefer (Sutherland) and the producers and Howard Gordon, all these guys, that if they need me and I’m going to be a good fit – and not just put me in there because they have to – I trust their judgment and will be there on the day that they need me. Unless I’m shooting Happy Endings, of course.”

Kim Bauer not returning in 24 series finale

Question: Now that Renee has been killed off in 24, is there a chance of Audrey returning for the 24 movie? —Patty
Ausiello: Yes, there’s a chance. “Any character who is still alive has been discussed and is being considered,” says exec producer Howard Gordon. “But I’m not ready to disclose any names because it could change.”

Question: Any chance Kim will return for the big 24 finale? —Charlie
Ausiello: No. According to e.p. Howard Gordon, “Once upon a time she was [going to be in the finale], but we went in a different direction. The story took on a darker hue that didn’t include her.”

Upcoming Talk Show Appearances

Here’s a list of upcoming 24 cast appearances on talk shows. I’ll be updating this list regularly as more information comes in – if you know of anything that’s not listed here, please let me know. I’ll be trying to record all these, but hopefully you do too just in case something goes wrong.

UPDATE: Katee Sackhoff’s appearance on G4TV’s Attack of the Show was rescheduled to the following week or so. She has posted a YouTube video talking about some of the appearances she’ll be making.

A 24 Premiere party will be held in New York City at 7 PM on January 14th – currently confirmed cast members are Anil Kapoor, Katee Sackhoff, and Annie Wersching.

Jeers to The Forgotten for adding Elisha Cuthbert to the cast in a recurring role. Yeah, that’s just what Christian Slater’s struggling ABC crime drama needs—the most annoying actress in 24 history (maybe her TV dad—and Slater’s old Young Guns costar—Kiefer Sutherland recommended her?). Cuthbert, who’ll also return to 24 in January (why?), will debut on The Forgotten in February as Maxine Denver, a Chicago woman linked to a case taken by the show’s group of non-professional sleuths. With any luck, it’ll involve a mountain lion—and this time Cuthbert’s character won’t escape.

Ouch. I’ve gotta admit, I’m not the biggest Kim Bauer fan either after all the silly storylines the 24 writers put her through. But the author of this article, Bruce Fetts, seems to take a personal crusade against Elisha as an actress rather than her character. Harsh stuff.

Paul Wesley to return for 24 season 8 premiere

For now maybe, but things are on the up for the actor. And next year, he’ll also appear in “24’s” two-hour season premiere, after filming several episodes as the husband of Jack Bauer’s daughter, Kim, played by Elisha Cuthbert.

“It was a pleasure to work on the show because it’s such a prestigious show and I just wanted to be involved in any way possible,” Wesley said of his small role, which began last season. “I love Elisha. She’s so sweet and I got to meet Kiefer Sutherland which is great because I’m a big fan.”

And now when he’s back in LA, perhaps, Access suggests, the two will bump into each other, series star to series star.

“I doubt Kiefer Sutherland watches ‘Vampire Diaries,’” Wesley chuckles. “Actually, then again, you never know, he was in ‘Lost Boys,’ right?”

Indeed, Kiefer was in that hit ‘80s vampire movie. And with Wesley’s help, “Vampire Diaries” could soon be just as popular.

Busy Bee Blogger have gotten the first photos of the 24 Season 8 premiere being filmed. They appear to be from a rehearsal as Kiefer Sutherland has a cigarette propped up behind his ear.

Didn’t the last season just end? Kiefer Sutherland, Elisha Cuthbert, and Paul Wesley and were spotted on set in downtown Los Angeles today.

How cute does Kiefer look with his little friend there? She’s totally stealing the show. She and her tiny polar bear. It’s not a tree Kiefer, it’s ok. She’s harmless!
