Yvonne Strahovski on 24 finale: “shit is going to hit the fan”

Yvonne Strahovski in the July 14th issue of TV Guide Magazine (page 36):

Time is running out on 24: Live Another Day. With the world on the brink of another all-out war, CIA field operative Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) is forced to face her own demons, Including a betrayal by former boss Steve Navarro (Benjamin Bratt), who framed her deceased husband for selling information to the Chinese. We grilled Strahovski on the top secret finale.

Where do we find Kate in the final hour?
Well, the s–t is going to hit the fan. [Laughs] Her professional world and her personal world are going to collide. Everything will come out in the open, and it’s going to give her more drive than we’ve seen her have. Things get intense, emotional.

This being 24, is it safe to assume a game-changing twist?
We’re actually doing a musical for the finale – we thought we’d try something new! [Laughs] Yes, there’s going to be a lot of action and some dramatic twists, and not everyone is going to make it In the end.

Does Kate’s kinship with Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) stay strong?
They’re still working together. You normally don’t trust a lot of people in that line of work, which is why it’s so beautiful that they really trust each other. I think she’s starting to see their similarities and look up to him as someone she respects.

If 24 continues past this season, would you be interested in returning?
I would never say never-anything is possible. Especially with how things end, you can really go a lot of directions with the show. I don’t know what they have planned, but it would be interesting to see another 12-episode arc in a different city where we can explore a storyline based on that culture.

Happy for you Gary Tan! In this day and age it’s getting ever harder to leave a meaningful mark on the world, yet still you managed to pull it off. Bravo!

Is it Monday yet?

When I saw that title on the home page I laughed forever.

*tut!* don’t say “shit” Yvonne, foul language is unbecoming.

”you can really go a lot of directions with the show.”

Completely agree with that, sad thing is they wont.

”it would be interesting to see another 12-episode arc in a different city where we can explore a storyline based on that culture.”

You mean like you did with LAD? Essentially turning London into a 51st US state where the Americans so arrogantly call the shots over the natives?

The one thing I’d wish for now is for there to be absolutely no White House – or hell, even an agency- story should 24 ever come back. Yes, if there absolutely had to be a president for LAD, Heller was the only choice, plus they still had a story to tell with him and Audrey. I pray to god they never introduce a new one in the future.

“I would never say never-anything is possible. Especially with how things end, you can really go a lot of directions with the show.”

This means Jack Bauer isn’t dying, right? (

I truly think there us zero chance of Jack dying….worried about Audrey and Chloe though…..

IT’s Audrey….expalins Heller “going to a vry dark place”

Kiki may the TV gods hear you ;-)
I ‘ m still wondering what will be “the stunning twist”

Blaming Jack and Chloe for her father’s death, Audrey kills them or the guy that with Jack since the beginning kills Audrey, Chloe then Jack on the helicopter. Or Pres. Heller blames Jack and Chloe for her daughter’s death and sends a drone to killer Jack and Chloe. That could be “the stunning twist”

I meant sends a drone to kill***

If the writers of 24 really want me to be shocked by what happens in this ninth season finale, then President James Heller or Kate Morgan has to die in this episode. There’s never been a current U.S. President that’s died on screen during an episode of 24. FOX was always too damn scared to kill off a current U.S. President on screen during an episode of 24. Hopefully, FOX is no longer too scared to do this. Killing Audrey off wouldn’t surprise me at all because Jack has never had a happy ending yet and maybe he never will. There’s been so much talk about a potential 24 spinoff series starring Yvonne Strahovski as Kate Morgan. They couldn’t possibly do that rumored Kate Morgan 24 spinoff TV series if Kate Morgan is already dead.

Another thing that would shock me is them having Jack Bauer killed off. But, I guarantee that Jack won’t get killed off because he is 24 and he will always be 24. The writers of 24 should know exactly how angry and outraged the fans of 24 would be worldwide if Jack got killed off. James Bond will never get killed off and Jack Bauer should never get killed off. Killing Jack off would be like the writers of 24 slapping every true fan of 24 in the face with so much force.

It would also shock me if Chloe O’Brian gets killed off. She has always seemed completely safe on 24 because she’s the person Jack has usually turned to for help ever since Season 3 and it would be too devastating for Jack if Chloe was killed off.

I disagree – even this season, Jack was getting support in the field at times from computer techs (i.e. CIA) other than Chloe. While she and Jack have a long history together, it’s been limited more or less to an assistant role – we’ve never seen the two have much involvement in each other’s personal lives beyond Chloe checking in on Kim during the break between S4 and S5 or Jack’s rescue of Morris in S6. If Chloe were killed off, it would fall into the same character elimination ploy as when the writers killed Teri, Palmer, Michelle and Renee off – all were close to Jack but the series could go on.

Relax, no one is killing Jack. The Father of 24, Robert Cochran said so himself.

Well I for one would love to see a musical episode!

I think a time jump will happen on the finale. Maybe show something that happens in the future and a new season will be announced after the episode continuing the story. I don’t know, it’s weird that it’s not actually “24” as it’s only been 11 hours so far and only 1 hour left of this season. Or the season will not end it will say “to be continued”.

This news bodes well for the future of 24 as they both have a long standing relationship with the show! http://www.thewrap.com/dana-walden-gary-newman-near-deal-to-lead-fox/

Yvonne Strahovski has been such a amazing addition to this ninth season of 24. I’m such a huge fan of her 24 character Kate Morgan. Also, thanks to the spoilery interview that’s now online with the writers of 24 Evan Katz and Manny Coto concerning tonight’s finale episode, I know that there’s going to be one thing that happens on tonight’s episode that I thought would never happen. Several weeks ago on this website, I first posted my prediction, but tonight’s finale episode will prove that my prediction was completely wrong. I posted my prediction on this “today” unmentioned 24 character on this website on several occasions. But, I’m not in shock that the writers of 24 did the complete opposite of what I wanted for this “today” unmentioned 24 character. I knew that there are so very many fans of 24 that successfully predicted exactly what really will happen to this “today” unmentioned 24 character on tonight’s episode, but my prediction was totally wrong. I should have seen this twist coming, but I didn’t.

There have been so many really shocking things that have happened on 24 in the past. But, I don’t think the major twist on tonight’s episode that I predicted incorrectly several weeks ago qualifies as a shocker at this time. I always knew that the major twist that occurs tonight had a strong possibility on happening even though I refused until a week ago to reveal that this major twist had a strong chance of actually happening. I’ve made incorrect predictions of numerous 24 plots in every season of 24, but there were many things that could have happened on tonight’s finale episode that would have totally shocked me if they actually happened.

New interview with Yvonne. She reveal a interesting thing about the scene with Navarro and what she learned from Kiefer: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/24-live-day-star-finale-718333
